ONE WORLD ONE WATER
Pacific Expositions will dedicate the company resources whenever possible and appropriate to
promoting awareness of this looming global disaster.
Already this progressive ecological crisis has begun to affect the lives of millions of the world's peoples.
The major impact is, for the moment, primarily concentrated in third world countries. However this is a global issue
that will soon directly impact us all.
The facts speak for themselves:
Today more then one billion people - approximately one in six - lack access to safe drinking water.
- Every fifteen seconds, a child dies from a water related disease.
- Approximately 443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related illness.
- For children under five, water related diseases are the leading cause of death.
- Millions of women and children spend several hours a day collecting water from distant, often
polluted sources.
- At any given time, half the worlds hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from water
related disease.
- 1.8 million children die each year from diarrhea - 4,900 deaths per day.
No intervention has greater overall impact national development and public health then the provision of safe drinking
water and the proper disposal of human waste.
